KAZINFORM. ASTANA. - Ingrid Verstraeten, Chief, Europe, Russia, Central Asia and International Organizations, Director of the International Programs Department of the US Geological Survey paid a visit to the National Space Centre (NSC) within the framework of her working trip to Astana.
The issues of establishment of the national spatial data infrastructure (NSDI) in Kazakhstan, taking into account the experience of the US Geological Survey, was discussed during the talks with the representatives of Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary.
The meeting with participation of professionals of the Center of the Earth remote sensing (ERS) considered the possibility of arranging conferences to improve the skills of experts from Central Asia in efficient use of remote sensing data on the basis of JSC NC Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary.
Also, the parties discussed the organizational issues, such as, joint search for grants of the government programs and projects, accession of Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary to the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters as a national operator of the RK ERS SS.
Director of the International Programs, US Geological Survey had visited the NCC and interacted with personnel of Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary before as well. According to Ingrid Verstraeten, "Kazakhstan’s possession of the modern space system of remote sensing can make it the leading supplier of satellite images in the Central Asian region."
