ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Kazakhstan delegation for the first time participated in the 14th International exhibition of the aerospace and naval equipment (LIMA-2017) on the island of Langkawi in Malaysia, IIA "Kazinform" reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
LIMA is one of the largest exhibitions of military equipment in the Asia-Pacific region, which has been held since 1991 every two years under the patronage of the Ministry of Defense of Malaysia. The subject of the exhibition is civil and military aviation, participation in humanitarian assistance, liquidation of the consequences of natural disasters, programs for the repair and modernization of aviation equipment, high-precision weapons control systems, aviation and naval weapons, equipment for underwater works , unmanned aerial vehicles, means of technical intelligence, means of access control, simulators and training programs.
This year 550 companies from 38 countries took part in the exhibition.
Within the framework "LIMA-2017" there was a meeting of the Kazakhstan delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry Marat Nurguzhin with the Minister of Defense of Malaysia H.Huseyn, during which the parties considered issues of bilateral cooperation in the military-technical sphere. Following the results of negotiations the Minister of Defense of Malaysia confirmed interest in cooperation in the aerospace sphere, as well as products manufactured by the national company Kazakhstan Engineering. "Malaysia could serve as a regional hub in the promotion of Kazakh products to the large and dynamic market of arms of the countries-members of ASEAN," said H. Hussein. The parties signed a letter of intent, which planned the establishment of working groups to develop specific proposals to expand cooperation in military-technical field.
Also on the fields of the exhibition were meetings of the Kazakh delegation with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Sudan Ali Mohammed Salim, Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Lieutenant-General Phan Van Giang, as well as the heads of the delegations of Indonesia and Belarus.
Following the meeting with the Belarusian side, a memorandum of cooperation and mutual understanding was signed between JSC "National Company "Kazakhstan Engineering" and SOFTUN "Belspetsvneshtechnika" in the field of production of optical-electronic products for armored vehicles, with the possibility of transferring relevant technologies, as well as providing training services to specialists ", - reported the press service of the MDAI RK.
