April 12 is a special day in the history of world cosmonautics. 56 years ago, on April 12, 1961, the first man of the Earth, Soviet pilot Yuri Gagarin conquered the Universe, opening the era of manned space exploration. Senior Lieutenant Gagarin started from the Baikonur cosmodrome, built in the Kazakh steppes by the labor of thousands of Soviet people. And we are rightfully proud that our country has a direct relationship to the birth and development of world practical cosmonautics. Six months later, another historic date is coming October 4 - the 60th anniversary of the launch of the first artificial earth satellite and in the history of mankind it will remain that it was launched from the Kazakh land.
For modern Kazakhstan, space activities are not only a
matter of national pride. The development and use of outer space is intended to
become a serious resource of national development, a real improvement in
people's quality of life.
Space activity for our republic with its vast territory and the richest resources is a sphere of geopolitical, economic and scientific-practical interests. Without it, it is extremely difficult to create a unified information industry in our country, to study and rationally use its natural resources, and to carry out environmental monitoring.
The exploration of space offers us limitless possibilities for solving fundamentally new problems in the organization of communication and broadcasting, remote sensing of the Earth, highly accurate determination of the locations of various objects and the control of their movements, meteorology and much more.
And today it is a common holiday, because it is a common breakthrough in the development of all mankind. During the years of Independence of our country, thanks to the direct support and attention of the Head of the State, the KazSat space communication and broadcasting systems, KazEOSat Earth remote sensing space systems, and high-accuracy satellite navigation systems were created. In Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, an assembly, integration and testing complex of spacecraftsis being created. National scientific researches in the field of space activity are successfully developing.
Today, Kazakhstan faces a strategic task to create jointly with Russia a space rocket complex at the Baikonur cosmodrome and further use of the cosmodrome in the interests of Kazakhstan and Russia.
By setting ambitious goals and realizing them, the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan will make every effort to ensure that Kazakhstan has taken its place in the world market of space services.
Over the past decade, the Aerospace Committee has made successful steps to create the space industry in Kazakhstan, but more needs to be done to fulfill the tasks set by the Head of State. Let me congratulate our honorable guests - cosmonauts and all specialists of Kazcosmos on the occasion and wish you all the best!
April 12 is a memorable day. This is the day of the triumph of science and all those who work in the space industry!
On my behalf and on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry, I congratulate everyone on the International Human Space Flight Day!
