In the frame of the visit of Albert II, Prince of Monaco to Kazakhstan the delegation of Monaco visited the National Space Center in Astana where the presentation about space activities in Kazakhstan took place.
The delegation included the president and CEO of “International space systems Monaco” (SSI Monaco) doctor Ilhami Aygun, Senior adviser of Economics and Finance Department of Monaco Michel Bouquier and President of Economic Council of Monaco Michel Dotta.
Operation of the Earth remote sensing space system consisting of high-resolution KazEOSat-1 and medium resolution KazEOSat-2 and high-accuracy satellite navigation system were presented to the Delegation, as well as operation of Kazakh telecommunication satellites KazSat-2 and KazSat-3 and respective control complexes.
Additionally, foreign guest got acquainted with construction process of the Assembly, Integration and Testing complex of spacecrafts, where different purposes spacecrafts weighting from 100 kg to 6 tons will be assembled, as well as their components. Delegation members inspected the building of Special design-technological bureau with pilot production, which will be commenced this year.
During the visit the parties discussed possible cooperation areas in space activities, representatives of Monaco proposed to Kazakhstan jointly create a telecommunication spacecraft. Also, they expressed readiness in provision of MonacoSAT transponders capacity to Kazakh telecommunication companies.
«MonacoSAT» satellite or «TurkmenAlem52E» was manufactured by Principality of Monaco jointly with Turkmenistan. It was launched on 21 of March 2015 on Falcon-9 launch vehicle from cape Canaveral (USA). «MonacoSAT» was built by French company Thales Alenia Space. The satellite is being controlled from Flight control centre based in Turkmenistan. Active lifetime period of MonacoSAT is 16 years.
It stand to mention that this was for the first time when delegation Monaco visited Kazakhstan to discuss possible cooperation in space activities.
Apart from that, representatives shown their interest in ordering spacecrafts in future AITC SC in Astana, as well as to perform its testing activities.
In the conclusion, the parties have agreed to continue work on extension and development of further cooperation.
